When Eric Lehman serves as mediator, he acts as a neutral third party and cannot represent either side in the underlying legal matter. The only way any other attorney at Dahl Family Law could represent either side in the underlying legal matter is if both sides agreed to sign a waiver allowing the representation.
In many Tennessee family law cases — including contested divorce and custody modifications — courts require parties to attempt mediation before scheduling a trial. Even when not required, mediation is often a faster and less expensive alternative.

Yes. Mediation is a confidential process. Statements made during mediation generally cannot be used as evidence in court, allowing parties to speak openly and explore options freely.
